Found a good article that discusses some of the highlights of BMW's new flagship. First pictures I've seen of the split tailgate, and the digital touchscreen key fob. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-bmw-x7-10-cool-features-new-luxury-suv/

As someone who has owned Range Rovers and loved having the split tailgate that also acts as a seat, I couldn't be happier to see the X7 has it as well.
It just goes to show who BMW is targeting. RR reliability has been slipping in recent years so I can see an increase in those folks coming here.
Thanks for sharing this. There are a lot of neat features about this SUV that I had no idea about. Surprised that those heated and cooled cup holders work as well as advertised. Giving third row passengers control over the sunroof is a neat addition too. You wont want to lose that key fob, that's for sure.

working as advertised is one thing but working consistently for years to come will be the bigger question because BMW's have been known for electrical problems, its not fun dealing with them but since we're buying a flagship product, dealers should handle it well.
Its going to be a long time before any issues need to be resolved out of warranty. With any first generation model there will be a fair share of recalls and TSB's following its launch. That's the norm with new cars in todays market.
Even with warranty, its not fun having to go back to the dealer more than you need to.
Although with flagship models like the X7 comes better treatment.

I realized that after trading in my old 3-Series for a new 5-Series.

Its unfortunate but understandable that the more you spend the better they treat you.

Vehicle subscription services might change that as it increases competition
My dealer said their service will start from $2000 which as you can get will likely be X2's, 2-Series, 3-Series and typical entry-level models. Closer to $4000 gets you M cars but apparently there are no plans to include the 7-Series and X7 in that :(
