Audi Q8, Electric Crossover Confirmed
I expect this trend to follow up to Audi's current and future flagship vehicles, in relation a BMW X7 rival, the Audi Q9 could go electric.
Speaking in Germany, Audi’s head of technical development Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg revealed that the automaker is working on a pair of large crossovers that include the Q8 and an all-electric vehicle. The new Q8 will slot above the all-new Q7 while the all-electric crossover will boast a range of over 310 miles. That model will be built on the company’s second-generation MLB platform and will have the capability to be equipped with various powertrains. It is expected that Audi will reveal more details on the new model later this year.
Hackenberg also divulged how Audi plans on dealing with increasing fuel economy regulations, such as adding electrically-driven turbochargers as standard to its TDI diesel engines. The company is also committed to hydrogen fuel cell with its A7 h-tron Quattro now ready for production development.
